Course details
By the end of the training trainees will enhance their understating of how behavioural economics can contribute to policy formation and efficiency of economic aggregates in the energy sector.
The Training Programme targets the following groups:
- graduate students thinking of a career in the energy sector;
- junior specialists in the energy sector;
- mid-level managers in the energy sector;
- entrepreneurs in the energy sector

Dr. Lorenzo Lotti
Dr. Lotti is an economist at University College of London. His main research focus is how to use behavioural economics to make an impact on the energy and environment fields. Dr. Lotti holds a BSc in Economics from University of Genoa, an MSc in International Economics from University of Pavia, an MSc in Economics from UCL and a PhD in Applied Economics.
Dr. Lotti has worked in the development economics field, with BRAC in Uganda and IFS in India. He is currently working as Senior Teaching Fellow and Programme Leader at UCL Bartlett, in the MSc of Economics and Policy of Energy end the Environment (EPEE), and is a Recognised Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Dr. Tobias Reinauer
Dr. Reinauer was a Researcher and Teaching Fellow for the MSc in Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment (EPEE) programme at University College London. In 2013-2014, Dr. Reinauer completed the MSc EPEE himself, which was the first year that the programme was run. From 2014-2018, he worked as a teaching assistant for various modules of the MSc. In 2019, Dr. Reinauer completed a Ph.D. degree for which he conducted a detailed study of technological learning processes among small and medium-sized enterprises in the Thai biogas industry.
Dr. Reinauer’s general research interests focus on the intersection between technological innovation, social and economic development in low and middle-income countries, and climate change mitigation. Since October 2019, he has started a position as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the UNEP-DTU Partnership in Copenhagen, Denmark.
