Tsaghkadzor
The famous tourism spot Tsaghkadzor is a spa town and a popular health resort in Armenia.
Tsaghkadzor was known as Tsaghkunyats Dzor during the medieval period. Tsaghkadzor literally means valley of flowers in Armenian. The name of Tsaghkadzor is associated with the name of the nearby Taghkunyats Mountains, located to the west of the town.
The town is located 50 kilometers north of the capital Yerevan and 3 kilometers east of the provincial center Hrazdan. Surrounded with alpine meadows, the town is situated on the southeastern slope of the Teghenis Mountains, at a height of 1,841 m above the sea level.
The Tsaghkunyats mountain range is located to the west of the town. The residence of the Bishop of Kotayk (Ketcharis Cathedral) and historical church of Maqravanq – the asylum of the King Ashot II the Iron, are also nearby.
Tsaghkadzor is a city with well-built squares, streets, luxurious night lighting, modern hotels and rest-homes. It is attractive both in summer and winter.
